Stellar's Jay

Close cousin to the Blue Jay in the East

This year round visitor will always come in for peanuts in the shell. They hide them all year long and will retrieve them through the deep snow in winter.

When this flock of blue arrives every fall, my feeders get emptied quickly as they carry all of the sunflower seeds away to cache for the winter.

Scrub Jay

Like his cousin the Stellar's Jay, this bird loves to cache raw peanuts in the shell. This one, at a friend's house, would actually take the nuts from my hand.
